Traditional Therapy versus Energetic/Intuitive Therapy: What’s right for you?
Traditional Therapy versus Energetic/Intuitive Therapy: Which is Right for You?
by Annamarie Green
One of the most common questions I hear is, “Annamarie, what’s the difference between traditional therapy and spiritual or intuitive work? How do I know which is right for me?”
The truth is, both approaches can be powerful tools for transformation. They each offer unique insights and methods to help you navigate life’s challenges, heal from past trauma, and step into your most authentic self. But how do they differ, and which one could be the most supportive on your journey?
The Power of Both Worlds
Traditional therapy, rooted in psychological theories and clinical practice, provides structured guidance to help you heal and grow. Techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and talk therapy help us process emotions, untangle thought patterns, and improve emotional well-being.
Energetic or intuitive therapy, on the other hand, goes beyond the mental and emotional realms. It taps into your energetic field, subconscious mind, and spiritual self, offering deep healing that’s holistic and aligned with your soul. Think of it as uncovering and releasing the root causes of your struggles—without having to relive painful experiences in great detail.
While both paths aim for the same goal—improving your quality of life—they do so in different ways. In traditional therapy, you might focus on resolving past trauma or learning coping strategies. With intuitive therapy, you’re likely to hear phrases like “aligning with your highest self” or “creating an abundant, soul-aligned life.” The language may feel different, but both approaches aim to create meaningful and lasting change.
Is Traditional Therapy Not Working for You?
Many clients come to me frustrated after years of therapy with minimal results. They’ve tried different therapists, modalities, and even medication, only to feel like their progress has been incremental at best. If you resonate with that, it’s worth considering whether traditional therapy alone is addressing your whole self. For many, the missing piece is the integration of intuitive and energetic healing.
According to the American Psychological Association (APA), recent research indicates that on average 15 to 20 sessions are required for 50 percent of patients to recover, as measured by self-reported symptom measures. This means that, even after months of commitment, half of those in traditional therapy may still be struggling to find relief from their symptoms. For many individuals, this can feel disheartening, especially when the urgency to heal and move forward in life is high. This is where many feel stuck and begin questioning whether traditional therapy alone is enough. I created The Intuitive Therapy Program in response to these pain points, integrating energetic healing and intuitive insight to accelerate progress. The combination of intuitive therapy with traditional methods significantly reduces recovery time, allowing clients to experience profound healing in 12-15 sessions instead of months or years.
What is Intuitive Therapy?
Intuitive Therapy is the heart of my practice, combining the structure of psychology with the power of energetic healing. This method taps into both the conscious mind (your “new brain”) and your subconscious, primal brain (your “old brain”), where beliefs, survival instincts, and emotional blocks live. By working with both, we can address issues at their root, allowing for rapid shifts and profound healing.
In my Intuitive Therapy Program, I use a combination of energy readings, breathwork, healing sessions, and traditional therapeutic practices to create a truly holistic approach. This unique blend accelerates the healing process and helps clients achieve freedom from anxiety, depression, and trauma often within 12-15 weeks.
My Process
I begin with an energetic reading to understand where you’re at—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. This reading helps identify the root causes of your struggles and pinpoints the energetic blocks keeping you stuck. It’s like receiving a treatment plan directly from your soul, which allows us to create a customized action plan for healing and growth.
From there, we dive into weekly sessions, incorporating techniques like energy healings, somatic work, and intuitive insights, alongside traditional therapeutic strategies. Clients often describe feeling seen and understood in a way they’ve never experienced before. This deep connection builds trust quickly, allowing us to move through old pain and trauma efficiently.
Why Choose Intuitive Therapy?
If you’ve tried therapy and felt like you weren’t making real progress, intuitive therapy could be the missing link. It’s especially effective if you:
Have been in and out of therapy without significant change.
Struggle to build rapport with therapists or feel judged in sessions.
Experience intense symptoms, such as panic attacks or depression, that haven’t improved with medication.
Feel stuck, blocked, or like you don’t have anything to talk about in therapy.
Are curious about energy work and the spiritual side of mental health.
Intuitive therapy works because it’s a complete approach—addressing not just your thoughts and emotions but your energy, soul, and higher self. It’s ideal for those who’ve felt like traditional therapy wasn’t enough or for anyone ready to dive deeper into their personal and spiritual healing.
Finding the Right Therapist for You
Regardless of which path you choose, finding the right therapist is essential. Here are a few tips to help you on your journey:
Schedule a consult call. This will give you a feel for the therapist’s energy, whether they genuinely care, and whether you feel comfortable with them.
Clarify your non-negotiables. Know what you need—whether it’s a particular focus, a shared cultural background, or specific support.
Have a goal list. Come into your first session with clear goals, so you and your therapist can align on how to help you achieve them.
Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask therapists about their methods, why they do what they do, and what their current focus is. You deserve to feel fully supported.
